Sharjah Donkey Project

The extant population of feral donkeys (Equus africanus f. asinus) living in the Dhaid-al-Madam plain (Emirate Sharjah, United Arab Emirates) is employed as a landmark population for the establishment of a mesowear database in donkeys. In cooperation with Prof. H. P. Uerpmann (Tübingen) the world wide largest collection of skulls, postcranial bones, DNA-samples, faeces, and food plants from this habitat was established.
